- Typical Window: Applications are usually invited in August, with the portal (https://www.sdat.tn.gov.in/services) closing by September.
- No Re-application Needed: If you are already a beneficiary, you generally do not need to re-apply every year.
The SDAT reviews your performance monthly/quarterly to continue the funding. You only re-apply if you are moving between tiers (e.g., from MIMS to ELITE).
2. Eligibility Requirements (Common to all)
- Nativity: You must be a native of Tamil Nadu or have resided/studied in the state for at least the last 5 years.
- Performance Window: Most schemes consider your achievements from the past 2 years (CDS) or last 4 years (MIMS/Elite).
- Discipline: Your sport must be among the 60+ disciplines recognized by SDAT.
3. Tenure & Retention
- Induction Period: Once selected, the assistance is typically provided for up to 2 years. However, this is renewed annually based on your performance logs.
- Monthly Compliance: Athletes must upload training logs and competition results to the Aadukalam portal monthly.
- The "Six-Month" Rule: If you do not participate in any recognized tournament for 6 consecutive months, your scholarship may be terminated.
- Ranking Maintenance: You must maintain a Top 8 standing in India for your category to ensure the scholarship is renewed for the second year.

Unlike a simple stipend, these funds are "need-based." You can claim reimbursement for:
